The advertising motivates the materialism which became unavoidable and symbol of success (even in the company), which is the role of the media here? Today, advertising does not praise any more one product for its qualities, but it explains us why you must have it, how this product will contribute to your wellbeing and your social success. If you do not have it,… you become a “loser” So the media’s aim is to find a way to influence, to manipulate people.Why?Naturally to make money. An example: The musicThe music wakes up, caused emotions, we easily distinguish for example the difference between a music from horror film and the music of a romantic film. The proverb says also the music softens manners. The music, by its influence can be used for therapeutic use. But, the trade has known how use these effects for themselves. According to the type of targeted customers the store diffuse a kind of music, the person will feel in a familiar environment, he feel comfortable, he will remain longer in the store, and will be more attempt to buy. While we speak about the trade, we can stop a moment on their logo.

For example, FedEx and Carrefour have a logo with a hidden particularity, very close to the subliminal.

The logo was created by the firm “Lindon Leader of Landor Associates”. Between the E and the X we can see an arrow in white, it symbolise the sending, the rapidity. For Carrefour, if we concentrate, we can distinguish in white a C (hid)The brain fills the white and discovers a “C”. The designer “lay cat and mouse” with our eyes.

A first good example is the subliminal message, here is the definition :

A subliminal message is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. These messages are indiscernible by the conscious mind, but allegedly affect the subconscious or deeper mind. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been used in advertising and propaganda; the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated.

We have limits, our brain is limited. By different techniques of information’s perception, the media (or people in advertising) play with our brain and alter ou behaviour !!

How they do that ?

Thanks marketings techniques which came from survey or study on people (volunteer).

Is it dangerous ?

Unfortunately we don’t know.

Currently, there is a new subject in trend, it’s called “the study of unconscious phenomenon”. It can modify moods and emotions !! But I will speak about that later.
